Mario Haunhorst (born June 17, 1967 in Georgsmarienhütte ) is a German glass and light artist who uses his media to develop well-thought-out amalgamations of architecture and light. His field of work ranges from the conception and redesign of sacred spaces to project development in public spaces.

The studio is based in Osnabrück.

Life

He studied art education , art history and German at the University of Osnabrück and began to investigate the phenomena and effects of light in the medium of drawing, painting and photography. After training to be a high school teacher, glass work and light installations followed (e.g. in 2006 during the cross and cross corridors in Osnabrück Cathedral ). Today he cooperates with glass manufacturers and luminaire developers and works with specialist planners and architects on extensive project developments. His work in the liturgical area is characterized by intensive engagement with the subjects of liturgy, faith and tradition. It is reflected in a formal language that is conditioned by technical innovations and aims to combine motifs, tools and technology.

In order to impart knowledge from artistic practice, he has taught at the Faculty of Engineering and Computer Science at the Osnabrück University of Applied Sciences since 2013 and in art at the University of Osnabrück since 2015.
