from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Mario Lanfranchi (born June 30, 1927 in Parma ) is an Italian opera and film director .

Life

Lanfranchi worked early on with the new medium of television, where he was responsible for journalistic, musical and performing programs. In addition, he established himself as one of the most important opera directors, often staging his wife, soprano Anna Moffo - the two were married from 1957 to 1974 -. He had created thirteen opera productions for television between 1956 and 1962, and from 1963 he also appeared several times with film adaptations of this musical genre; however, the first two attempts remained almost unseen. The third, however, a La traviata version, was a great success. This was followed by an unusual spaghetti western and between 1974 and 1976 two self-produced crime novels and a porno film . His last work for television was created in 1982. Lanfranchi should not be confused with an especially active actor of the same name in the mid-1960s.

Lanfranchi's family owned the villa of the same name.
