Mario Placencia Pérez ( February 19, 1927 , † ~ 1985 ), also known by the nickname El Flaco (the thin), was a Mexican football player in the position of the striker .

El Flaco Pérez began his professional career in 1947 at Club Marte and became Mexican champions with this club in the 1953/54 season. After this success, the master team of the "Martians" fell apart due to financial problems and Pérez switched to the CD Zacatepec , with which he won the championship again in 1954/55.

With a total of 135 goals scored, Mario Placencia Pérez is considered one of the best scorer in the history of the Mexican Primera División .

After his active career, Pérez worked temporarily as a trainer and, among other things, trained the UNAM Pumas in 1966 .

National team

His debut in the Mexican national team was El Flaco Pérez on September 25, 1949 in a World Cup qualifier against Cuba, which was won 3-0. Pérez was also nominated for the Mexican World Cup squad and played the preliminary round matches against hosts Brazil (0: 4) and Yugoslavia (1: 4) at the Soccer World Cup in 1950 .
