Mariotto Segni

Mariotto Segni , called Mario (born May 16, 1939 in Sassari , Sardinia ) is an Italian politician and professor.

Life

Mariotto Segni is the son of the Sardinian politician and professor Antonio Segni . Segni completed his training in his hometown of Sassari, where he also studied law , before settling in Padua for ten years as a private lecturer and doctoral student in civil law . In 1975 Segni returned to Sassari as a full professor of civil law.

Career

The longtime party member of the Democrazia Cristiana was first elected to the regional council in 1967 and was a member of the Chamber of Deputies from 1976 to 1996 . In 1992 he founded the Popolari per la Riforma movement and in 1993 the Patto Segni , whose main concern was the conversion from proportional to majority voting.

In 1994 Segni was a candidate for the office of Prime Minister of the Patto per l'Italia Center Alliance , and from 1994 to 1995 Member of the European Parliament .

From 1999 to 2004, thanks to an electoral alliance with the Alleanza Nazionale , he sat again in the European Parliament, in 2003 the Patto Segni was renamed Patto dei Liberaldemocratici .
