Marists

With Marist a group of religious orders referred to in the Catholic Church that are related in their orientation and its history closely. They include the Marist School Brothers (FMS), the Marist Sisters (SM), the Marist Fathers (SM) and the Marist Mission Sisters (SMSM) as well as the lay Marists.

The founder of the Marist Fathers is Jean-Claude Colin . In 1816, together with Jeanne-Marie Chavoin, he also founded the Sisters of the Most Holy Name of Mary, or Marist Sisters. The founder of the Marist School Brothers was Marcellin Champagnat in 1817 .
