Jean-Claude Colin
Jean-Claude Colin (born August 7, 1790 in Saint-Bonnet-le-Troncy , France , † November 15, 1875 in La Neylière , Pomeys , canton of Saint-Symphorien-sur-Coise ) was a priest and founder of the Marist Fathers .
Life
During his chaplaincy from 1816 to 1825 in Cerdon , he pursued the idea developed among his fellow students in the seminary to found a Society of Mary , which was founded in 1836 by Pope Gregory XVI. was recognized. From 1825 to 1829 he was a people's missionary in the Bugey and from 1829 to 1839 superior of the small seminary in Belley . He was superior general of the Marist Fathers from 1836 to 1854. In 1872 the final drafting of the rule of the order took place .
