Georg Christian Lehms

Georg Christian Lehms (* 1684 in Liegnitz ; † May 15, 1717 in Darmstadt ) was a German poet . Pseudonym Pallidor .

Life

Lehms attended high school in Görlitz and then studied in Leipzig . At the end of 1710 he got a job as court poet and court librarian in Darmstadt , where he was appointed to the Princely Council before 1713 . He died of pulmonary tuberculosis at a young age .

In addition to the encyclopedia of Teutschlands gallant poets , which made him famous, he wrote “gallant” novels , opera libretti and several years of cantatas for the Darmstadt court services. Some of his cantata texts were set to music by Johann Sebastian Bach , Christoph Graupner and Gottfried Grünewald .
