Maritime security center
The Maritime Security Center (MSZ) in Cuxhaven is a communication and cooperation network of the operational forces of the federal government and the coastal states for maritime security. In the MSZ, the following network partners have been coordinating their work to ensure safety at sea since January 2007:
- Federal waterways and shipping administration
- Federal Police
- Customs administration authorities
- Fisheries protection from the Federal Agency for Agriculture and Food
- Control center of the water protection police of the five coastal countries
- Emergency command
- German Navy
The various technical competencies are bundled in a joint situation center See (GLZ-See). In the interests of national and international shipping as well as safety off the German coast, information is exchanged and operations are coordinated on the basis of shared knowledge of the situation.
