Maritta Böttcher (born Becker; born March 29, 1954 in Karl-Marx-Stadt ) is a German politician ( SED , today Die Linke ) and a former member of the German Bundestag .

Life

Maritta Böttcher attended the polytechnic high school and then the pedagogical college. She worked as a teacher from 1974 to 1985 and was active in the youth association. In the years 1985 to 1988 she studied with a degree in social science. Subsequently, she was first district secretary of the SED in 1988/89 .

After leaving parliament, she continues to work for her party. From 2004 to 2006 she took over the management of the federal office of the PDS in the Karl-Liebknecht-Haus and has been responsible for the event management of the Linkspartei.PDS in the Karl-Liebknecht-Haus since 2006.

She is married and has a daughter.

Maritta Böttcher joined the SED in 1974 and also became a member of the successor party PDS in 1990 . She took on several local, state and federal political tasks in her party. She has been the district chairwoman since 1990, was a member of the federal executive committee from 1990 to 1992, a member of the Brandenburg state executive committee from 1993 to 1995 and its deputy chairwoman since 2001.

Since 1990 she has been a member of the district council for her party at the municipal level and is chairman of the youth welfare committee and since 2003 a member of the Jüterbog city ​​council . There she is the chairman of her group and a member of the main committee .

She sat from November 10, 1994 to October 17, 2002 for two terms in the German Bundestag . She was elected via the state list of the Party of Democratic Socialism (PDS) in Brandenburg . In the Bundestag she was the spokesperson for education and university policy for her parliamentary group and represented it in the interior committee .

In the mayoral election on September 25, 2011 in Jüterbog, she lost 45.5% of the vote against the non-party Arne Raue .
