Marius Kasmauskas (born March 8, 1980 in Klaipėda , Soviet Union ) is a Lithuanian handball player . He is 1.92 m tall.

Life

Kasmauskas, who plays for the German club HSG Barnstorf / Diepholz and played for the Lithuanian national team, was mostly used in the left backcourt .

Marius Kasmauskas started playing handball in his hometown near Dragunas Klaipėda. There he also made his debut in the first Lithuanian league, but the club never managed to get past serial champion Granitas Kaunas. In November 2001 Kasmauskas moved to the German handball league for VfL Hameln . With the men from the rat city, the trained industrial clerk rose to the second division in 2002, whereupon he joined another second division, namely Eintracht Hildesheim . There he rose again to the first division in 2006, but also immediately back in 2007. He then moved to HSG Wetzlar for the 2007/08 season . In November 2007, Kasmauskas sustained a protracted shoulder injury that made him sideline in 2008 and 2009. During this time he completed an IT degree in Lithuania. In October 2012 he returned to Germany with his wife and son and joined the upper division HSG Barnstorf / Diepholz.

Marius Kasmauskas has so far played 65 international matches for the Lithuanian national team. With Lithuania he could never qualify for a big tournament.
