Marivan (in Kurdish : Merîwan, Persian مریوان) is a city in the western Iranian province of Kordestān . According to extrapolation in 2012, the population was just over 101,000. Most of the population are Kurds . Marivan is near the Iraqi border. To the west of Marivan is Lake Zarivar , which has a length of 5 km and a width of up to 1.6 km.
