Mark Lauren

Mark Lauren (* 1. May 1972 ) is a bestseller - author , record holder in the military apnea diving and former world champion in Thai boxing .

Childhood and school days

Lauren was born in the United States and spent the first year and a half of his life in Los Angeles, California. After his German mother and Filipino father separated, he lived with his German family near Frankfurt. There he attended a German school up to the third grade. At the age of nine, Lauren moved with his mother to Clearwater , Florida, and studied to read, speak and write English at a private school.

A track and field trainer taught him the principle of supercompensation when he was 13 . In 1995 he won the title of “Mr. Hawk "bodybuilding competition, then a year later in the middleweight division and in the general classification.

Military career

In June 1997, Lauren enrolled in the US military and began the year and a half training process to become a Special Operations Combat Controller .

After basic training, Lauren failed on the first attempt to complete the training. Only four of the 96 candidates were successful; on the second attempt he was one of 12 successful graduates from a group of more than a hundred candidates.

Lauren still holds the record for the longest underwater swim in the Pararescue / Combat Control Indoctrination Course : He swam 133 meters underwater, holding his breath for two minutes and 23 seconds - until he finally passed out.

After training, Lauren was first assigned to a team in the 22nd Special Tactics Squadron in Washington State, and later appointed as an instructor himself. In this position, Lauren revised the fitness and strength training of the special forces.

After serving in the military, Lauren began training as a Muay Thai boxer in Thailand . In 2009 he won the middleweight title belt of the Florida IKF , and in the same year a professional title belt in Thailand.

Further career as a trainer

As a service provider, Lauren continued to train special forces and began writing his first book, You Are Your Own Gym. First self-published, it was republished in January 2011 by Ballantine Books, a publishing brand of Random House. “You Are Your Own Gym” (In Germany: Fit without devices) has been translated into twelve languages ​​and has been sold more than a million times worldwide, most of them in Germany. His second book, "Body By You" (In Germany: Fit without devices for women) has been translated into six languages. In 2014, Lauren published his intensive program "Fit without devices - the 90-day challenge" in Germany, which also became a bestseller.

As a producer and performer, Lauren has also released numerous training DVDs, including "You Are Your Own Gym" and "EFX: Postural Bodyweight Training".
