Marko Leino (born September 8, 1967 in Hyvinkää , Finland ) is a Finnish writer and screenwriter .

Leino published novels, poems and scripts. His first book, a collection of short stories, was awarded the Kalevi Jäntti Prize in 1999.

In 2006 Leino wrote the book Miracles of a Winter Night . He dedicated it to his grandmother, who died on Christmas Eve 1978. The 2007 film Miracle of a Winter Night (director: Juha Wuolijoki), one of the most successful Finnish films of recent years, was based on his model. In 2012, the Theater Junge Generation in Dresden premiered as a play.

Leino lives in Helsinki.
