Market square (hall)
The market square is the central and historically significant main square in the old town of Halle (Saale) in Saxony-Anhalt , Germany and is considered one of the largest marketplaces in Germany. In addition to the Hallmarkt , it is one of the city's medieval settlement centers.
The most important and dominant buildings on the square include the Red Tower , the Market Church of Our Lady , the Town Hall , the Ratshof, the “Julius Lewin” department store, the Marktschlößchen and the Handel monument .
The southeast side of the market in Halle has been incomplete since 1945; the historic council scales and the old town hall stood here between the town hall, the hand monument and the council court .
