Town hall with Schnapphans

The town hall located on the southwest side of the market square with a baroque half-timbered tower and pointed hipped roofs is one of the oldest preserved town hall buildings in Germany. The layout and construction of the hall construction on the lower floor give an insight into the building history of the 14th century. The Jena town hall has an astronomical art clock from the 15th century, one of Jena's “seven wonders”, the so-called Schnapphans, is attached above the dial .
