Markus Czenia

Markus Czenia (born June 19, 1972 ) is a German drummer and musician .

Career

Czenia began playing the drums in 1982. After a first record deal in 1991 with the thrash metal band "Rattfink", several years followed with bands of various musical genres.

In 2007 he published the composition Journey to Vinland , which he brought out as an audio book himself . Journey to Vinland is a symbiosis of a narrated story, spoken in eleven passages, and virtuoso drumming. Initially recorded in German, a version in English followed in 2008 for the international target group. The story told is retold with acoustic drums alone . In 2007 in Wiesbaden, Czenia received the “German Rock and Pop Prize” in the special award category “best drummer” for Journey to Vinland and came second there. In 2008, Czenia presented Journey to Vinland at the Montreal Drumfest in Canada and was honored with a standing ovation .

The DRUM! (USA), Slagverkkrant (NL, B), Sticks (Germany), Drumheads !! (BRD) and drums & percussion (BRD) reported in numerous editions in the form of interviews and reviews about Czenia's work as a soloist. Enterntainment photographer Jules Follett included it in the 2009 US book Sticks'n 'Skins . The illustrated book shows 480 important international drummers on 560 pages.

The specialist magazine Sticks counts Czenia among the most extraordinary drummers in Germany and described his performances as "radio plays of great musical storytelling". In the specialist magazine Drumheads !! the author Jannis Borgmann described Czenias “unbelievable coordination” as his great strength.

Czenia places a special focus on supporting the young generation. In his drum school, founded in 2002, children and young people from all ages and social classes are taught. The social aspect was always of great importance to Czenia. In 2017 he plays a charity tour for the benefit of local child and youth welfare projects. Among other things, he played a concert in April 2017 in support of the Kinderklinikkonzerte eV association
