Markus Benjamin Koob (born December 5, 1977 in Kronberg im Taunus ) is a German politician ( CDU ) and a member of the German Bundestag .

Education and life

Markus Koob studied political science with a minor in law at the University of Mainz and graduated with a master's degree in 2006 . From 2006 to 2012 he worked as a personal advisor to the district administrator of the Hochtaunus district , Ulrich Krebs . From 2012 until his election to the Bundestag, he was the district's press spokesman .

Markus Koob joined the Junge Union in 1993 . In 1995 he also became a member of the CDU. In terms of local politics, he is active as a city ​​councilor in Oberursel .

In the 2013 federal election , Markus Koob was directly elected to the Bundestag with 48.8% in the Hochtaunus constituency. He succeeds Holger Haibach , who gave up his mandate in the middle of the previous electoral term. In the general election in 2017 he was able to defend his direct mandate. In the 19th German Bundestag he is a full member of the Foreign Affairs Committee and a deputy member of the Committee on Family, Seniors, Women and Youth, as well as the Subcommittee on Disarmament, Arms Control and Non-Proliferation.
