Markus Molis

Markus Molis (born March 3, 1966 ) is a German biologist who headed guest research at the Biological Institute Helgoland (BAH) until 2013 . He then moved to the Alfred Wegener Institute in Bremerhaven.

biography

After graduating from high school, Molis served in the Bundeswehr , most recently as an ensign , and is an officer in the reserve. He studied biology at the University of Marburg , in the USA and at the University of Kiel . He did his doctorate in Kiel. After completing his doctorate, he was the scientific coordinator of the research and training program GAME (global approach through modular experiments) at the Institute for Oceanography in Kiel. In 2004 he got a position at the Alfred Wegener Institute for Polar and Marine Research (AWI) and dealt with the underwater world.

In 2004 he became head of guest research at the Biological Institute Helgoland (BAH). The BAH is a marine biology research and service facility on the North Sea island of Helgoland . It has been part of the Alfred Wegener Institute since 1998. He works on pastoralists (alga-grazer interactions) and on ecosystem relationships in marine systems (community ecology).

He teaches in courses at the BAH and at the University of Bremen .
