Markus Vogl (born November 27, 1970 in Steyr ) is an Austrian politician ( SPÖ ) and employee works council chairman. He has been a member of the Austrian National Council since 2013 .

Vogl attended the elementary school St. Anna bei Steyr between 1977 and 1981 and then graduated from the secondary school St. Anna bei Steyr from 1981 to 1985. He then moved to the HTL Steyr in 1985, where he studied motor vehicle and mechanical engineering. In 1990 he completed the HTL with the Matura . After graduating from high school, Vogl completed military service in 1990 and worked as an assistant in the border area of ​​Burgenland. He has been working in the development department at MAN Truck & Bus since 1991, where he has been a freelance employee works council chairman since 2010. Parallel to his involvement in the trade union and works council, Vogl attended the trade union school from 2000 to 2002 and the Otto Möbes Academy Graz in 2006. As a result of his work on the works council, he was a delegated member of the supervisory board of MAN Nutzfahrzeuge Österreich AG and MAN Truck & Bus Österreich AG from 2010 and since 2013 a member of the supervisory board of TIC Technology & Innovation Center Steyr GmbH and a member of the supervisory board of the business and service park Stadtgut Steyr GmbH. At the end of October 2019, he resigned from all his functions at MAN and left the company at his own request.

Politics and functions

Vogl began his political career in 1998 as a replacement works council at MAN in the technology area and subsequently acted as works council from 2002 to 2007. In 2007 he was promoted to deputy chairman of the employee works council, which he took over as chairman in 2010. In addition, between 2010 and July 2012 he was chairman of the union of private employees, printing, journalism, paper (GPA-djp) in the Steyr district and has been a member of the national board of GPA-djp since 2010. In addition, he is chairman of economic sector 2 - metal, mechanical engineering, vehicle construction of the GPA-djp and a member of the Presidium of the Steyr region of the Austrian Federation of Trade Unions (ÖGB). Since 2009 he has also been chairman of Section 16 Stein / Gleink of the SPÖ Steyr, in 2010 he took over the chairmanship of the Steyr Social Democratic Union (FSG) group, and in 2012 he was elected district chairman of the SPÖ Steyr Stadt und Steyr Land. He ran for the SPÖ in the 2013 National Council election and won a mandate in the Traunviertel regional constituency . He was sworn in as a MP on December 17, 2013.
