Markus Woznicki

Markus Woznicki (born March 15, 1966 ) is a German doctor and former taekwondo fighter .

Career

Woznicki started early with Taekwondo in the sports club RSC Essen . Due to his talent and the good training opportunities at RSC Essen, he quickly rose to the German national team. There he achieved numerous victories at national and international level and was among other things German champion, international German champion and European champion . Under the direction of the then national coach Dirk Jung , Woznicki became European champion in the -83 kg class in 1988 and in the same year he won the bronze medal at the Summer Olympics in Seoul , where Taekwondo was a demonstration sport in the program. In 1989 he won the silver medal at the World Games in Karlsruhe. In 1991 he also took part in the Taekwondo World Championships in Athens, as well as in the 1992 Summer Olympics in Barcelona and achieved eighth place with good performances.

After his active time as a national fighter, Woznicki became a club trainer at RSC Essen. Several of his students became national champions and German champions both for young people and senior citizens. The association also became aware of Markus Woznicki; after working as an NWTU national trainer, he became national trainer for the German Taekwondo Union . Due to his medical studies and his subsequent work as a cardiologist , he had to give up the post of national coach.

Markus Woznicki lives in Essen, he is married and has two daughters.
