The St. Mark's Church (Pol. Św Kościół. Marka ) in Krakow is a Catholic church at ul św.. Marka 10 in the northern part of Kraków's Old Town . It was built for the Polish Crusaders .
history
The church with the associated Kreuzherrenkloster was built in the years 1263 to 1295 in the brick Gothic style . The church was ravaged by fires four times - in 1494, 1528, 1589 and most recently in 1724 and always rebuilt. The interior of the church was baroque in the 17th century in the style of the early Baroque.
Works of art
On the east wall of the church is the late Gothic group Golgata from around 1500 with the crucified Jesus, Mary and John. It was originally located between the presbytery and the nave of the church. The main altar is by Baltazar Kuncz , who created it around 1618. The angel figure comes from Baldassare Fontana .
Geographical location
The church is located in the northern part of Kraków's Old Town at the intersection of ul. Św. Marka and Sławkowska Street .
