Marlango is a Spanish musical group . It is strongly influenced by the atmospheric music of Tom Waits (the band name Marlango comes from one of his songs ) and consists of the singer Leonor Watling , the pianist Alejandro Pelayo and the trumpeter Óscar Ybarra .

Career

In 1998 Leonor and Alejandro recorded a demo tape with 14 songs, written for piano and voice, and thus created the starting point for their debut album, which was not released until years later. In the summer of 2002, Óscar Ybarra from New York , who had recently moved to Madrid at the time, decided to take part in the project. The three of them rounded off the work and in February 2004 Marlango's debut album of the same name finally saw the world. It contains influences from rock to jazz , but its gloomy mood was probably also influenced by scenes from David Lynch's films and the music of Tom Waits .

After the album was released, the band toured all of Spain , Portugal and Japan for a year . From Marlango be sold over 50,000 copies, which is why the band of Pedro Almodóvar (the one with the singer Leonor Watling has worked, which is very well known as an actress in several film projects) was personally awarded a gold record.

The band's second album, Automatic Imperfection , was released in September 2005 and has already brought Marlango a gold record in Spain.

On April 4, 2008, the album The Electrical Morning came out. It is the band's third studio album.
