Marlo Thinnes (* 1976 in Saarbrücken ) is a German pianist .

Thinnes' father was an accordionist and director of a private music school. Marlo Thinnes' interest in the piano began when she was around 10 years old. He learned pieces of piano literature by listening to and replaying recordings with almost no pedagogical guidance.

From 1994 to 2000 he was his father's successor as head of the music school. From 1997 he studied at the Hochschule für Musik Saar in the piano class of Robert Leonardy . Another important teacher was Cortot alumnus Jean Micault . Thinnes completed his piano studies (M. Mus., Soloist exam) all with honors.

He is the first prize winner of several international competitions, has received a Meindl scholarship and has performed in some of the major concert halls in Europe, including London's Royal Albert Hall , the Opéra Bastille Paris, the Auditorium dell'Annunziata in Sulmona in central Italy. His repertoire includes standard works from Scarlatti to Stravinsky with an emphasis on the classical-romantic repertoire.

Also in 2017, together with a pianist colleague, he started a Beethoven marathon in Saarbrücken, where the 32 piano sonatas of the Austrian by choice were performed with great success on a total of 8 evenings. Chamber music activities connect him with his wife, the soprano Laureen Stoulig-Thinnes, the French flautist Jean-Pierre Pinet, the Munich violinist Ingolf Turban, with whom he cyclically performs all of Beethoven's sonatas for piano and violin. Since 2019 Thinnes is also the pianist of the formation VENEREM.

He is also a co-initiator and artistic director of "Klassik auf Birkhausen Klassik auf Birkhausen".

A concert event that presents recitals and more every year in the late spring on the farm built in 1744 near Zweibrücken. The concerts take place in the riding hall of the former Trakehner stud in Birkhausen, which is being converted into a medium-sized concert hall and can accommodate 500 visitors. He lives with his family on an old farm in Lorraine.
