Robert Leonardy

Robert Leonardy (* 1940 in Blankenburg ) is a German pianist and music teacher .

Life

Robert Leonardy comes from a musical family in Saarland and began his pianistic training at the age of 14. His teachers were Fritz Griem and Andor Foldes at the Saarbrücker Musikhochschule , Jean Doyen and Marguerite Long in Paris , and Erich Flinsch at the Musikhochschule in Frankfurt am Main .

In 1969 Leonardy took on a teaching assignment for piano at the Rheinisches Konservatorium in Cologne . From 1971 to 2009 he worked as a professor for piano at the Saar University of Music in Saarbrücken. At the same time, in addition to his teaching activities, he developed an active career as a concert pianist at home and abroad. His extensive repertoire soon made him a sought-after soloist in numerous radio, television and CD productions. In addition, he initiated the Saar Music Festival in 1989 , of which he is still the artistic director today.

Leonardy is married and has two children who are also professional musicians, the soprano Eva Maria Leonardy and the organist Bernhard Leonardy .
