Moroccan house
The Moroccan House was purchased on behalf of Ludwig II at the Paris World Exhibition in 1878 , where it was part of a larger oriental ensemble. On November 25th the individual parts arrived in Linderhof , and in December the house was set up near the Hundinghütte , not far from the Austrian border.
The Moroccan house was then lavishly furnished with rich fabrics and carpets, the windows were also reinforced and a fireplace was built. A new coat of paint of the rooms gave the house a different look.
After the king's death, the Moroccan House was sold to Oberammergau , where it slowly fell into disrepair in a garden. The house has since been bought back in 1980, carefully restored and rebuilt in a new location closer to the castle, where it has been in the castle park since 1998.
