Mars Bonfire

Mars Bonfire (born April 21, 1943 in Oshawa , Canada ) is a Canadian rock musician and songwriter . He wrote the song Born to Be Wild , which made him known worldwide through the recording of the band Steppenwolf in 1968 and is now considered the first heavy metal song.

Life

He was born Dennis Eugene McCrohan , but changed his last name in the early 1960s and was now called Dennis Edmonton . Mars Bonfire became his stage name. He played with his brother Jerry in the band The Sparrows from which Steppenwolf emerged. Jerry stayed with Steppenwolf as a drummer. Bonfire, however, devoted himself to his solo career.
