The March of the Living is a memorial march from the Auschwitz concentration camp to the Birkenau extermination camp .

It gives people from all over the world the opportunity to commemorate the victims of the Holocaust and has traditionally been held on Yom Hashoa (Holocaust Remembrance Day) since 1988 . The name refers to the death marches of concentration camp prisoners . The “March of the Living” is led by Holocaust survivors. For two decades, more than 100,000 people have taken part in the “most sustained protest of young Jews from all over the world against denial of the Holocaust ”, in 2005 for the first time non-Jewish delegations from Germany and Austria.

The events are prepared and carried out by March of the Living International, an organization that not only includes visits to authentic memorial sites and encounters with survivors and contemporary witnesses, but also the collaboration of historians and memorial site educators in the conceptual design.
