The Marshall County Courthouse in Marshalltown , the Justice and Administration Building ( Courthouse ) of Marshall County of the Middle East US -amerikanischen state of Iowa .
The current building is the third courthouse in Marshall County, founded in 1846. The first building was a one-story building in Marietta, constructed in 1853 . After the relocation of the administrative headquarters to Marshalltown (then Marshall ), the second judicial and administrative building of the county was built here in the years 1857-1858. In 1883 it was decided to build the current building and in 1886 it was given its intended purpose.
The three-story limestone building, for which the stones were extracted in a quarry near Le Grand , was created after a three-year construction period in the neoclassical style based on a design by the architect John C. Cochrane . Between 1973 and 1975 the building was extensively renovated after fire protection could no longer be guaranteed.
In 1972 the building was listed on the National Register of Historic Places with reference number 72000478 .
