The Marshall Jamboree was an American country broadcast broadcast by KMHT of Marshall , Texas .
history
The first Marshall Jamboree was held on the evening of December 27, 1952. The show ran from 8 a.m. to 11 p.m. One sequence was broadcast on KMHT that lasted about half an hour. Shortly after the start, the Marshall Jamboree was one of the most popular events in the region. The show was sponsored by Marshall Chambre of Commerce , a Marshall-based company. The host was noted disc jockey Tommy T. Cutrer, who was at the KCIJ in Shreveport , Louisiana at the time , and AT Young was the manager. His son Buddy, along with his group The Texas Ramblers, formed the show's house band and was one of the most popular members. The show was held at the City Hall of Marshall City. The Marshall Jamboree is no longer on the air these days, it was discontinued a few years ago. KMHT changed its format to the news channel.
In addition to permanent members such as Don Holt, Rhett Grant or Glenda Grant, country stars such as Martha Carson , Norman Nettles and his Blue Ridge Mountain Boys and Jean Nettles made guest appearances.
