Marshall is a city in the northeast of the US state Texas and is the seat of the county seat of Harrison County .

history

Marshall was founded in the Republic of Texas in 1841 . In 1860 it was the fourth largest city in Texas. During the American Civil War, saddles, boots, uniforms, gunpowder and ammunition for the Confederation were made in Marshall. After the fall of Vicksburg , Marshall was the capital of the state of Missouri .

Culture

Marshall is believed to be the birthplace of boogie-woogie in the 1870s. A festival of lights is celebrated in December.
