Marta Sánchez López (born May 8, 1966 in Madrid ) is a Spanish singer.

Life

Childhood and youth

Marta Sánchez was born on the same day as her twin sister Paz in Madrid. She had been in touch with music since she was a child, as both parents worked in the music industry. Her father, Antonio Sánchez, was an opera singer. In addition, the family maintained a strong relationship with the singer Alfredo Kraus , who also sponsored Sánchez at the same time. For these reasons, the music held a strong fascination for Sánchez, who started playing the guitar at an early age. She received her first guitar as a present for her first communion . Almost at the same time she began taking music lessons. Sánchez first appeared on television at the age of fourteen, on the Spanish program Sabadabadá , where she sang.

As a teenager, Marta Sánchez first thought about playing music not just as a hobby, but also to earn money with it. When she was eighteen she published a photography book to attract music producers' attention. During this time she was already playing in bars and joining the band Cristal Oskuro , through which she established contacts with the nightlife of Madrid and with music producers. During an unofficial performance, a member of the band Olé Olé became aware of them and invited Sánchez to become a member of the band in order to play more professional music. She accepted the offer and replaced Vicky Larraz as the band's singer.

1986–1991: career start with Olé Olé

In 1986, a year later, the first album was released on which Marta Sánchez sang, it was called Bailando sin salir de casa , which received good reviews. In the following year, another album was released with the title Los Caballeros las prefieren rubias , in which Sánchez changed her appearance and outwardly leaned on Marilyn Monroe . The album Cuatro Hombres para Eva was released in 1988. At the end of 1990 the band traveled to the Persian Gulf to cheer up the Spanish soldiers who fought there. The band lasted until 1991 when they split up. Marta Sánchez started a solo career at this time.

1992–2010: Solo career

In 1992 she starred in the movie Supernova , for which she received some small reviews. A year later, she released her first solo album entitled Mujer , which landed at number 49 on the Latin Charts in the United States , and in 1995 she added another album, Mi mundo . This also proved to be successful in the United States, as it reached number 13 in the Latin Pop Charts and was able to establish itself at number 40 on the Latin Albums , for two weeks at a time. In 1997 her third album Azabache was released , which included songs with different themes. The following year she released the album Desconocida in collaboration with her father . In 2002 her next album called Soy yo followed , which was preceded by the 2001 album Los Mejores Años de Nuestra Vida . Once again she had changed her style, which can also be seen in the thirteen songs on the album. The album Los Mejores Años de Nustra Vida also includes the song Vivo por ella , the Spanish version of the Italian song Vivo per lei , which she sang with the Italian singer Andrea Bocelli . With this she achieved a great success in the Spanish charts in 1996. On November 22, 2004, she released Lo mejor de Marta Sánchez , a best-of album that included three previously unreleased and two new songs.

On November 7, 2005, they released their first live DVD, which they are showing at a gig in the Spanish city of La Coruña .

After another break, the album Miss Sánchez was released on April 23, 2007 , which was worked out in collaboration with Carlos Jean. After just a week, the album was number one on the Spanish online charts. She has already sold six million of her albums worldwide alone.

In January 2009, she sang a duet with Carlos Baute , the Colgando en tus manos 's and reached number one the Spanish charts. Until about November 2009 the song was always among the top positions in the Spanish charts, until April 4, 2010 it was almost continuously in the Spanish top 50. It has achieved the status of the second best single in Spanish chart history.

In mid-December 2009, Sánchez released a single under the title Libre [2009] , which stayed in the national charts for a little over a month.

So far, Marta Sánchez has sold more than seven million albums in her solo career and with Olé Olé .
