Martha Heesen
Martha Heesen (born May 6, 1948 in Oisterwijk , Netherlands ) is a Dutch author for children and young people.
She studied Dutch and initially worked as a translator . Her first book was published in 1993. Today Martha Heesen is one of the most important Dutch authors of young books. She received the " Zilveren Griffel " three times in a row and in 2015 the Theo Thijssenprijs for her complete works, the highest award that the Netherlands can bestow on authors of children's and youth literature. Her book "The Night When Mats Didn't Come Home" was awarded the " Golden Owl " in 2004 and was nominated for the German Youth Literature Prize in 2006.
