Martin Dreher

Martin Dreher (born March 20, 1953 in Karlsruhe ) is a German ancient historian .

Dreher received his doctorate in 1982 from the University of Marburg with a thesis on sophistics and polis development . In 1984 he became a research assistant at the University of Munich , in 1985 an assistant at the University of Konstanz , where he completed his habilitation in 1991 through the Second Attic League and in 1992 became a university lecturer. Dreher has been Professor of Ancient History at Otto von Guericke University Magdeburg since 1996 .

Dreher was chairman of the Mommsen Society from 2005 to 2007 .

Dreher deals with the history of antiquity, in particular interstate relations, legal and constitutional history as well as ancient Sicily.
