Martin Dzingel

Martin Dzingel (* 1975 ) is a Czech linguist and a representative of the German-speaking minority in the Czech Republic .

Life

Dzingel grew up in Rýmařov (Roman town) in the Jeseníky Mountains in a German-speaking, social-democratic family. Even while studying linguistics in Pardubice (Pardubice) and Brno ( Brno ), he was committed to the German minority in the Association of German North Moravia and Eagle Mountains. In 1998 he was elected to the presidium of the umbrella organization for the national assembly of German associations in the Czech Republic , and since 2001 he has been its managing director in Prague .

In 2010 Dzingel was elected President of the State Assembly and confirmed in office in 2016. Dzingel sits on the supervisory board of the Primary School of German-Czech Understanding and the Thomas-Mann-Gymnasium in Prague, which is sponsored by the National Assembly. He is a member of the Council for National Minorities of the Czech Government and is on the Advisory Board of the German-Czech Discussion Forum.
