Bartsch is occasionally mentioned as the originator of the Christmas carol Tomorrow, children, there will be something . However, its role is not entirely clear. Max Friedlaender states that the song was included in the melodies published by Bartsch for the song collection in 1811 , and names Bartsch (with a question mark) as the composer of the melody given there. The text of the song had already been published in 1795 in the songs for the formation of the heart by Karl Friedrich Splittegarb (1753-1802).
