Martin Haenichen

Martin Haenichen (March 4, 1894 - May 21, 1933 in Colombia ) was a German aviation pioneer.

Life

Haenichen began his professional career as a pilot on May 1, 1927 at Junkers & Co. In 1929 and 1930 he worked as a pilot for the Persian government. In 1931 he took part in Hayo Folkert's aviation advertising as a pilot of a Junkers F 13 . Haenichen flew with the rank of captain for the Colombian Air Force in the war against Peru . On May 21, 1933, Haenichen was killed in a plane crash in Colombia.

The city of Magdeburg had temporarily named a street ( Haenichenstraße ) in his honor.
