Martin Kargl

Martin Kargl (born December 30, 1912 - May 20, 1946 ) was an Austrian football player . The defender won the silver medal with the Austrian amateur selection at the 1936 Olympic Games in Berlin .

Career

Martin Kargl played as an amateur at SC Kores Vienna in the III. League. Coach Jimmy Hogan took him to the Olympic Games in Berlin in 1936, although he had not yet played a game for the Austrian amateur national team. Together with Ernst Künz from FC Lustenau 07 , he played the Austrian defense in all four games in Berlin and reached the Olympic final with the team, which was lost 1: 2 in the change to Italy . However, since Martin Kargl was promoted to the second league with his club in the same year, he became a professional player and thus uninteresting for the amateur national team.
