Ernst Kuenz
Ernst Künz (born February 23, 1912 ; † unknown) was an Austrian football player . The defender won the silver medal with the Austrian amateur selection at the 1936 Olympic Games in Berlin .
Career
Ernst Künz played for FC Lustenau 07 in the Vorarlberger Landesliga. At that time, the league was aimed at amateur players and was not connected to the professional Austrian championship, which at that time was limited to the Vienna area. With the Lustenauers, the back dominated the Vorarlberg championships and was also in the final of the amateur state championship in 1933, which, however, was lost to the Grazer AK . Coach Jimmy Hogan took him to the Olympic Games in Berlin in 1936, although he had not yet played a game for the Austrian amateur national team. Together with Martin Kargl from SC Kores Vienna , he played the Austrian defense in all four games in Berlin and reached the Olympic final with the team, which was lost 1: 2 in extra time to Italy .
Kuenz has been missing from Santakai in Lithuania since August 21, 1944 .
