The EVS EUREGIO traffic railway network GmbH ( EVS ) with corporate and operational headquarters in Stolberg (Rheinland) is a private, non-federal railway company and the railway infrastructure companies in the Greater Aachen / Eschweiler / Düren operates.
EVS was founded in 1999 by BSR Naturstein-Aufbereitungs-GmbH based in Stolberg. On October 12, 2000, it took over a 69-kilometer route network from Deutsche Bahn . a. (As of 2018) is operated on 47 kilometers in passenger traffic by the regional train RB 20 ( Euregiobahn ).
Infrastructure
The routes taken over are (as of 2019):
- Route 2572, Stolberg – Walheim (near Aachen) and its continuation on the Vennbahn to Walheim (near Aachen) border
- Route 2570, Herzogenrath – Stolberg
- Route 2555/56, Alsdorf-Kellersberg-Siersdorf
- Route 2571, Stolberg – Frenz
- Line 2544, Quinx junction SMT
In addition, EVS is the owner of the new Eschweiler-Weisweiler-Langerwehe line that it has built . In Stolberg it also has 20 kilometers of tracks in the freight yard.
In June 2009 the first EVS line was operated by an electronic signal box (ESTW) with the new line , the other lines were also connected to the ESTW in the following years. Since June 2012 the company headquarters and the control center of the EVS have been located in the station building of the Stolberg main station .
Since January 2019, preliminary products for the ESW pipe works in the Eschweiler-Aue station have been reloaded from Italy and Croatia , which were previously handled in the freight yard area of the Stolberg main station on Haldenstrasse (Atsch) and delivered to the pipe works by truck. For this purpose, the EVS Euregio Verkehrsschienennetz had a large loading area created in the station.
Services
EVS is working on reactivating railway lines that have been closed for business operations and providing operational management for NE railways. This also includes the construction of new, modern stops and link systems on the reactivated and new routes. It also works on the provision and marketing of its routes for regional and national freight transport . With regard to passenger transport, there are contracts with the NVR , which advertises the services. EVS carries out project management for construction work and maintenance work on its own route network ; it builds and maintains the control and safety technology , z. B. at level crossings and sidings . She also deals with the maintenance of the landscape on her routes.
Breinig is currently working on the rail connection. To this end, the Rüstbach Viaduct was blown up in March 2019 and renewed by November 2019.
