Martin Kaschny (born July 8, 1964 in Stockach / Bodensee ) is a German economist and professor of economics at the Koblenz University of Applied Sciences . His work focuses in particular on ideas and innovation management and strategic management.

Education and career

From 1986 to 1988 Kaschny studied at the Otto Friedrich University in Bamberg . After an academic year abroad at the Université de Montréal in Canada from 1988 onwards, he finished his studies in business administration at the University of Cologne in 1989 . Here in 1995 his dissertation on the topic of entry barriers and entry behavior in the market for hospital services: An empirical-experimental study taking into account the prevention of private supply was published. The work was supported by a doctoral scholarship from the Graduate Fund of the State of North Rhine-Westphalia. After completing his doctorate, he received his doctorate in Cologne in 1998 . After three years of self-employment in the software industry, he became a management consultant at the Düsseldorf Chamber of Crafts in 1999 , until he was appointed professor for business start-ups and corporate succession at the Koblenz University in 2002 . Since then, in addition to his research and teaching activities, he has worked at various institutions and projects:

  • Member of the state board of the Hochschullehrerbund - Landesverband Rheinland-Pfalz eV
  • Head of the Koblenz founding office (Koblenz University of Applied Sciences)
  • Head of the cooperation network for business start-ups from Koblenz universities.
  • Initiator and organizer of the Rhineland-Palatinate ideas competition
  • Leading member of the Institute for SME and Cluster Management and Regional Economics in the Department of Economics at the Koblenz University of Applied Sciences

Political commitment

Kaschny came as a direct candidate of the FDP in the Bundestag election 2013 in the Bundestag constituency Koblenz and in the state elections in Rhineland-Palatinate in 2016 in the constituency Koblenz / Lahnstein on, but gained no mandate. He is the local chairman of the Free Democrats Lahnstein, member of the FDP Rhein-Lahn district board and deputy chairman of the Koblenz FDP district association and a co-member of the state board of the Rhineland-Palatinate FDP for education.
