history

St. Martinskirche Etzoldshain in winter

Etzoldshain developed as a street tanger village in the course of the German colonization in the 12th century, when the planned settlement of the region with mainly Franconian settlers began in 1104. The name of the place, which developed from "Etzelshayn", "Ettelshain", also called "Atlashain" (popularly called "Ettelsen" or "Ertelsen"), probably goes back to the old high German name "Ezzilo" or "Azzilo". In 1368 Etzoldshain was first mentioned as "Eczelschein". The place has always been characterized by agriculture - today the areas are mainly cultivated by the KÖG Kleinbardau. In the 13th century, the Protestant St. Martin's Church was built in the form of a hall church and expanded and rebuilt over time in the styles of Romanesque , Classicism and Historicism . In 1933 a bracteate was found in Etzoldshain. This coin treasure consisted of around 860 bracteates and was buried around 1230. The find consisted of coins from the Imperial Mint Altenburg, the Pegau Abbey, the Archbishopric of Magdeburg, the Diocese of Magdeburg, the Diocese of Naumburg, the Mint of Strehla, the Diocese of Meißen, the Bailiffs of Weida, the Lords of Lobdeburg (Mint Strehla, Roda and Schleiz) , the Vitztume von Apolda, the Burgraves of Dohna, the Margraves of Meissen and the Counts of Mannsfeld. The composition of the treasure, which was brought together in the years 1180 to 1230, is informative for the research of the coin traffic in the Pleißenland . On January 1, 1994, the merger with the city of Bad Lausick and the rural communities Etzoldshain, Buchheim, Ebersbach, Glasten and Lauterbach to form the municipality of Bad Lausick took place. The most famous establishment in the town and center of cultural life is the Hotel / Restaurant Kastanienhof. The Dreiseitenhof was used for agriculture until it was converted into a hotel complex in 1995. The hotel includes a restaurant with home-style Saxon cuisine, 22 hotel rooms and an event barn.

Youth club Milchhaus Etzoldshain

Youth club Milchhaus Etzoldshain

The youth club Milchhaus Etzoldshain is a one-room building and a central contact point for the young people from Etzoldshain and the surrounding villages. The building was originally built as a milk collection point to collect and cool the milk from the local farmers. After the construction of a barn for dairy cattle and the cooling system installed there, the building lost its original purpose. The vacant room was converted into a training room for the Etzoldshain volunteer fire brigade. When the volunteer fire brigade from Etzoldshain moved into a new fire station , the building was empty again. The local youth then converted this building into a youth club. During the Christmas season in 2000, there was a fire in the Milchhaus youth club that destroyed the entire interior. The youth club was renovated and reopened in 2001 with a lot of commitment, commitment and seed capital of two cases of Sternburg beer.
