Martin Sure

Otto Heinrich Martin Klar (born May 26, 1886 in Kreuz , Posen Province ; † July 2, 1966 in Berlin ) was a German art historian .

After receiving his doctorate from the University of Greifswald in 1910, he became a volunteer at the Royal Museums in Berlin in 1912 , and from 1913 he was a volunteer at the Kunstgewerbemuseum . When the war broke out in 1914 , he was called up for military service as a deputy officer, and in 1916 he was taken prisoner of war as a reserve lieutenant. From 1918 he worked again at the Kunstgewerbemuseum, from April 1, 1919 as assistant director, from 1928 as curator. On January 1, 1948, he became director of the Kunstgewerbemuseum in East Berlin , and in May 1959 he retired.
