Friedrich Ludwig Maximilian von Renouard (born January 4, 1797 in Ansbach , † August 9, 1883 in Berlin ) was a Prussian major general .

Life

Maximilian was a son of the Prussian major general Johann Jeremias von Renouard (1742-1810) and his second wife Elisabeth Lucie Auguste, née von Witzleben (1761-1830). His sister Charlotte (1798-1828) was married to the cavalry general Alexander Adolf von Hirschfeld (1787-1858).

Military career

Renouard first visited the Berlin Cadet House and on January 16, 1813 he was employed as a second lieutenant in the normal infantry battalion, from which the 2nd Guards Regiment emerged on foot in mid-June 1813 . During the Wars of Liberation he fought in the battles near Großbeeren and Paris , where he won the Order of Saint Anne III. Class acquired.

After the war Renouard rose to captain and company commander by mid-March 1822 and was promoted to major at the end of March 1836 . In this capacity he was awarded the Order of St. Anne II in mid-May 1842 and on March 31, 1846 he was promoted to lieutenant colonel . On July 24, 1847, he was initially assigned to lead the 20th Landwehr Regiment in Berlin, and on January 13, 1848, he was appointed regimental commander. In the same capacity, Renouard was transferred to the 23rd Infantry Regiment in Neisse on April 16, 1848 and promoted to colonel on May 8, 1849 . On October 10, 1850, he was appointed commander of the 12th Landwehr Brigade, which was also stationed in Neisse. For this purpose he was aggregated to the 23rd Infantry Regiment on October 24, 1850 . At the end of April the Landwehr Brigade was disbanded and transformed into the 23rd Infantry Brigade . Renouard continued to act as the commander of the major association and was promoted to major general on March 22, 1853. On 20 May 1854, he took his leave with pension and was on 22 April 1858 board for disposition made.

On the occasion of the coronation of King Wilhelm I , Renouard was awarded the Order of the Red Eagle II Class with Oak Leaves on October 18, 1861 . He died on August 9, 1883 in Berlin and was buried on August 13, 1883 in the garrison cemetery in Hasenheide.

In his assessment in 1847, the Prince of Prussia wrote: “In addition to his practical usefulness, there are intellectual talents, knowledge and great zeal, so that he shows prudence and successful behavior on every occasion and in every business assigned to him suitable. "

Renouard married on August 6, 1822 in Berlin Karoline von Bernuth (1802-1888), a daughter of the secret finance councilor Johann Ludwig von Bernuth . The couple had several children:
