Martin Leitner

Martin Leitner (* 1959 in Tittmoning ) is a German mathematician and has been President of the Munich University of Applied Sciences since 2016 .

Leitner studied mathematics at the Technical University of Munich . In 1989 he completed his doctorate there under Elmar Thoma at the Faculty of Computer Science and Mathematics with a dissertation on stochastic processes ( K-weak stationary processes; K a hypergroup ). After working as a researcher at the Rechts der Isar Clinic, at the Helmholtz Zentrum München and at Siemens AG, he was appointed Professor of Mathematics and Medical Statistics at the Ulm University of Applied Sciences in 1992 and in 1997 as Professor of Mathematics at the Munich University of Applied Sciences. As dean, Leitner headed the Faculty of Computer Science and Mathematics from 2003 to 2005. From 2005 to 2012 he was the sole managing director of HIS Hochschul-Informations-System GmbH in Hanover. Leitner has been active again at the Munich University of Applied Sciences since 2012. As an expert, he advised the German Bundestag as well as the state parliaments and the German Student Union on several occasions.

Martin Leitner was elected President of the Munich University of Applied Sciences in 2016 and re-elected for a second term from 2020.
