Martin Rev
Martin Reverby (born December 18, 1947 in New York ) is an American musician and film composer . He was the instrumentalist for the no-wave band Suicide . Together with Alan Vega he is considered to be one of the pioneers of techno . Martin Rev lives and works in New York.
Life
Martin Rev was born in the Bronx , New York under the name Martin Reverby. In 1970, Martin Rev and Alan Vega founded the punk rock band Suicide in New York. Martin Rev had previously gained experience as a free jazz musician. After initial success, Suicide broke up in 1973 for the time being.
In 1976 Rev and Vega took up the thread again and became the main band of the New York punk club CBGB’s . In 1977 they released their debut album Suicide. This joint second collaboration lasted until 1992.
In 1998 Rev and Vega teamed up to re-release their album Suicide. In 2002 they celebrated their comeback with the album American Supreme.
In addition to Suicide, Martin Rev pursued numerous solo projects. There was always a collaboration with the artist Stefan Roloff . In 2002 Martin Rev composed the music for the documentary Red Orchestra by Stefan Roloff.
