Martin Roček

Martin Roček (* 1954 ) is an American theoretical physicist .

Roček is the son of the chemistry professor at the University of Illinois Jan Roček (* 1924) and fled with his family over the Baltic Sea to Denmark in 1960 (his father was previously at the Institute for Organic Chemistry of the Czechoslovak Academy of Sciences in Prague). He graduated from Harvard University with a bachelor's and master's degree in 1975 and a doctorate in 1979. He was a post-doctoral student at Cambridge and Caltech . From 1983 he was Assistant Professor at the State University of New York at Stony Brook , 1986 Associate Professor and 1990 Professor.

Roček is mainly concerned with supersymmetry including connections to complex geometry and applications in mathematics (introduction of hyperkähler quotients, Bihermitian manifolds, generalized complex structures in the sense of Nigel Hitchin ). He also dealt with the discrete approach to the general theory of relativity by Tullio Regge (Regge calculus).

In 1984 he published a monograph on the superspace method for Feynman diagrams in supersymmetry with Sylvester James Gates , Warren Siegel and Marcus T. Grisaru .
