Martin Skalsky

Martin Skalsky (* 1977 in Zurich ) is a Swiss - Czech film composer and director.

Life

Martin Skalsky studied composition at the Zurich University of the Arts (ZHdK), as well as musicology, economics and computer science at the University of Zurich . He also studied singing with Kris Vail in Zurich and Franz Lukasovsky in Vienna.

With the film

Skalsky founded the triplet studios in Zurich and Berlin together with Christian Schlumpf and Michael Duss . In this trio, Skalsky composed the music for several films, including the award-winning film Ein Sommersandtraum (2011) by Peter Luisi and for the film Schweizer Helden, which won the Audience Award at the Locarno International Film Festival in 2015 . Since April 2012, in addition to his work for feature films and documentaries, he has been composing the music for the German television series Lindenstrasse . In 2019 he directed his feature documentary "Cody - the dog days are over", a film about the relationship between humans and animals.

Concerts

Skalsky's concert music has been performed in several countries, including Switzerland , the United States , Hungary and Brazil . He was invited twice as a composer to the Bayreuth Festival of Young Artists (2003 and 2004).
