Martin Stohler (Rector)

Martin Stohler (* 1883 ; † January 18, 1972 ) was a Swiss teacher, rector and politician .

Life

Martin Stohler was a teacher at the boys 'primary school from 1908 to 1918 and at the girls' secondary school in Basel from 1918 to 1930 . From 1930 to 1938 he taught at the cantonal commercial school in the same place. From 1938 until his retirement in 1950 he was principal of the boys' primary and secondary school. Stohler had joined the workforce at a young age and later became politically active. He was a member of the Grand Council of the Canton of Basel-Stadt , which he chaired for a year, was a member of the criminal court and was President of the Bank Council of the Basler Kantonalbank .
