Martin de Valencia (* around 1473 in León , Spain ; † 1534 in Veracruz , Mexico ) was a Spanish missionary .

Martin de Valencia was a Franciscan and was distinguished by his zeal for reform and strict piety. He rose in the Spanish order hierarchy and led the "twelve apostles" to Mexico , who arrived in Veracruz in May 1524. During the next ten years, Valencia supervised the baptism of several thousand Indians , with whom he communicated through interpreters .
