Martina Steinkühler (* 1961 in Lübeck ) is a German theologian and author .

Martina Steinkühler studied Ancient Languages and Theology at the Christian Albrechts University in Kiel . During her legal clerkship at a grammar school, she did her doctorate on the subject of power and powerlessness of the gods as reflected in her speeches (in the post-Vergilean epic) . After working as a teacher at several grammar schools in Schleswig-Holstein , she first switched to the North Elbe Center for World Mission and Church World Service in Hamburg as a press and public relations officer. She then worked as a director of studies with a focus on religious education at the Theological-Pedagogical Institute of the Mecklenburg Church. Today she works as a lecturer and author at Vandenhoeck & Ruprecht in Göttingen, where she lives with her husband and three sons.

She discovered her interest in writing during elementary school, when she wrote many stories and essays. At the age of 14 she published her first book for young people. Many more followed during their school and university days, all published by Ensslin Verlag. Today at Vandenhoeck & Ruprecht she develops practical material for religious instruction and for parishes.
